Alianza’s Environmental Justice Campaign

Environmental justice seeks to address the disproportionately negative impact of poor environmental conditions, both in the natural and built environments, on vulnerable populations. Environmental justice is the belief that all people — regardless of where they live, social status, or race — should be able to enjoy an environment that is conducive to a healthy livelihood. That means having access to clean air, clean water, affordable housing, reliable public transportation, and safe working conditions.

The people and organizations that make up Alianza’s Environmental Justice Campaign pursue environmental justice in the Coachella Valley by amplifying resident voices and increasing community input so that long-term plans for the Salton Sea reflect the community’s needs.
